We strive
for sustainability
LVG Plants has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability and excellence in production. Processes are centrally managed to ensure optimal conditions for growing LVG’s superior quality indoor plants.
From embarking on an extensive solar technology project for heating greenhouses, to meeting the farm’s production water requirement with a rainwater catchment system, LVG proudly complies with a bi-annual environmental audit.
Additionally, this ethos is seamlessly carried over into the working atmosphere and lifestyle at LVG. Even the carbon footprint of LVG’s staff has been significantly reduced in innovative ways, by having staff use electric vehicles and bicycles on the farm.
The water system alone stores and saves 70 million litres of water. Furthermore, the LVG solar collector field spans 10,000 m² and is the largest horticultural solar collector field in the southern hemisphere. By implementing innovative solutions, the van Geest family vision is continuously accomplished through their environmentally centred focus, by pioneering the way for the horticultural industry and the nation as a whole.
Not only is LVG certified according to top international standards, but also won two awards at the AIPH International Grower of the Year 2020, held in Germany.
Together We
Bloom
The West rand has been one of the many areas affected by Covid-19 pandemic. As such, the owners of the LVG Group, the van Geest family, established a foundation on behalf of the horticultural sector to contribute towards feeding schemes to assist the most vulnerable.
This initiative will be extended beyond the lockdown so that once the need for food is over, funds will be redirected towards education and healthcare. The van Geest’s are currently engaging with the international business community to lobby for donations and support.
